Help! I scheduled my first laundry pick-up. Now what?

We ask that you leave your items accessible for our driver by 8:00AM the morning of your scheduled service. Items can be left outside your door, with a concierge/attendant, or in a designated location you’ve shared with us in a disposable bag with your first and last name attached to the outside of the bag. Please include any specific cleaning instructions for the items such as Dry Clean, Wash & Fold, or Launder & Press. If you plan on using two different cleaning methods on your first order, please ensure that the items are in different bags. You will receive a text message when our driver is on the way! There is no need to be home for scheduled pick-ups.

How do I separate my clothes and items for pick-up?

If you are using our service for the first time, please place your bag with your first and last name attached to the outside of it for our driver to collect. Please include any specific cleaning instructions for the items such as Dry Clean, Wash & Fold, or Launder & Press. If you plan on using two different cleaning methods on your first order (Ex: You have some items for dry cleaning and other items for standard wash, dry, & fold.) please ensure that the items are in different bags and labeled with your preference.

When will I receive one of those cool laundry bags?!

When your first order with Ian’s gets delivered, you will receive branded Ian’s Cleaners garment bags with your name on them. Please use these bags for your future orders. The navy bags are for dry cleaning or laundry that you want to be pressed. Green bags are used exclusively for our wash, dry, and fold service.

If you need additional bags for any of our services, please let us know!

How will my items be returned?

Your clean items will be returned during the scheduled delivery day at the same place of pick-up unless specified otherwise. They will be hand-delivered if you’re home, left on the door using our Over The Door hanger if you’re not available, or placed in a designated location of your choosing. You can customize your delivery location under Special Instructions under your Account Section when logged in or when you place an order.

What is the difference between Dry Cleaning, Laundry, and Wash & Fold?

Dry Cleaning

Clothes are inspected, treated for stains, then immersed and cleaned with a water-free cleaning solution. Clothes are gently agitated in the solution to cause soils to loosen. This process is great for delicate items and everyday fabrics.  Then garments are either steamed or pressed to remove wrinkles. Items are then hung.

Laundered & Pressed

This option is ideal for button-up dress shirts that are 100% cotton or a cotton/polyester blend. Your garments are washed in a commercial washing machine with soap, starch, and warm water that is safe for your fabrics. Afterward, they are pressed (or ironed) while wet which creates a crisp finish. Items are hung on a hanger, but we do offer a “Box & Folded” service if requested.

Tip: Garments with spandex, linen, or rayon are better suited for dry cleaning compared to laundry. Over time, these fabrics have proven to not be as durable as cotton or polyester, so it is highly recommended you have them dry cleaned instead to prolong the life of the fabric.

Wash & Fold

Wash and fold is your basic laundry service (like you do at home), but much better because we are doing it for you! Your order will be weighed prior to cleaning. Your laundry is washed in a commercial washing machine and tumble-dried in a commercial dryer. Then, it is folded before it is returned to you nice and clean! We do our best to fold and separate by garment type (ex: T-shirts are folded and placed together separate from pants). This service is charged by the pound with the exception of certain special or household items, like a comforter, that takes up an entire washing machine or dryer. Comforters and large blankets will be priced individually and not weighed by the pound. Garments are not ironed.

How does stain removal work?

Stain removal is a science! Based on the fabric, color, and origin of the stain, our removal specialists calculate the appropriate cleaning agent and method to treat your item. Usually stain removal consists of applying a targeted treatment to work against the stain and mechanical action such as soft brush to break up the stain. It is then flushed out and cleaned!

Is your process eco-friendly?

Yes! Ian was born and raised in Austin and understands the importance of the environment. We use an eco-friendly cleaning solution, efficient cleaning practices, and recycle wire hangers and plastic laundry bags!
